museum trip

On Tuesday July 22, 2008 our class along with two other classes went to the museum in Hamilton for the Rivers and Us trip.

We learnt a lot of things like dragonflies spend most of their life underwater!

Also have you ever wondered how old an eel is well you’ll be able to find out, all you have to do is kill an eel and cut its eardrum out and count how many rings are there? Would you ever do that? I don’t think I would!!

We learnt all about the water cycle, and that bats fly across the river at night catching insects. Freaky I wouldn’t want to be out kayaking at that time of the night.

We also learnt about the Waikato River and how it generates power for Hamilton and many other places.

We got to go on heaps of activities at the museum like the earthquake house, which was freaky but really cool. We also did heaps more.

We got given a sheet of questions, and had to answer them by looking around the museum for the answers. We choose a partner to work with.

After, we got some free time to explore the museum by ourselves until time was up.

Shyanne and I think that the rivers and us trip was an awesome trip and we learnt a lot of things in just one day, and everything that we learnt was interesting also the activities were very fun to play with!
